Liebster Award

liebster-award

I woke up this morning with a smile all over my face and a rainbow all over my place for this amazing blogger named Matthew G. who nominated me for this Liebster Award that I’m not sure if I deserve or not. But anywho, I’m encouraging everyone to please take time to visit his blog especially if you’re looking for some in-depth, heartfelt poems and creations that will definitely hit you deep in your soul. He’s one of the most passionate writers I’ve come across in just almost a month of blogging.

Yes, I’m a rookie in the blogosphere thus this award really makes me feel overjoyed. This was the second time I felt appreciated so I’d like to thank these two wonderful writers Enni and Matthew for the Blogger Appreciation Award and this Liebster Award respectively.

What’s the Liebster Award?:

It’s an award in which bloggers nominate other bloggers for showing respect to their works and their dedication. It’s an appreciation and recognition for all the fellow bloggers out there in the blogosphere.

Rules:

1. Thank the blogger who nominated you in your blog post and links back to her blog.

2. Answering 11 questions that the Blogger asked you.

3. Nominate 11 new bloggers to receive the awards and write them 11 questions.

4. List the rules and display the Liebster award logo in your post on your blog.

For Rule #1:

Again, thank you so much from the deepest layers of my soul for nominating me for this award, Matthew. I love all your works and I look forward to more posts from you!

For Rule #2:

Questions:

1. The natural even e.g natural cataclysm that suits to describe your personality, explain briefly why?

I’m an introverted extrovert—gregarious but sometimes prefers to be alone in my own world of imagination. Paradoxical, I know. Haha.

2. Any particular goal/dream related to writing or blogging?

Yes, I’d like to publish a pyschothriller novel in the future.

3. Weirdest thing you have ever done – details, please!

Uh oh this is a little tough to answer because I do a lot of weird things on a daily basis, being a weird person myself! Haha.

4. Misconception people believe, but you know the truth. Share something wise for us to grow smarter!

It’s a misconception that people think you don’t need to improve your memory as we age ’cause I think that if you can master the ways to develop your memory you will have a massive and positive change in your life and it will make you smarter. Just like what one of my favorite authors Kevin Horsley have focused on in his book called Unlimited Memory, regardless of the level of IQ you currently have, you can improve it just by following the methods he wrote in his book.

5. A hobby you like and the thing you fear most?

A hobby I like is running and the thing I fear most is death.

6. City or village, why?

City. Maybe because I’ve been living in the city my entire life and I like it here. Lol.

7. Would you rather be the villain or a hero?

The Villain with a heart of a hero.

8. Zodiac and your sign. Tell us if you believe in common belief of zodiac signs?

My sign is Sagittarius and yes I’m a believer of the Zodiac’s interpretation of personalities in each sign and the distinction of one to another.

9. Share a music you would recommend to me. I’m picky, be aware!

We came from a two different countries so I didn’t know if you’d like this one but my recent favorite Artist is The Weeknd and his song called Die For You.

10. What is your favourite eye colour? Mr Curious wants to know.

Blue because I have brown eyes and blue-eyed people are unusual in my country or in Asia in general.

11. Try to pick 3 words that describe me, based on my blog. Funniest is the winner!

Romantic, Soulful and Intelligent.

My #500km2018challenge

This is the very first time I’m going to disclose something about myself. Most of my recent posts are fiction and a few commented on my short stories asking if those were my stories. So I decided to write something that will give you a hint of my complex self. My story—just one story though, no big deal.

I’m going to talk about my obsession for running and my goal for this year. I say obsession, like my constant longing for sweets, because I keep coming back to it—despite the unbearable physical pain (at times) as an effect of overdosed running 😂

Since most of it is off record, I decided to track the number of kilometers I want to accomplish using this amazing app called Strava. It’s hashtag 500km2018challenge, #40kmpermonth #10kmperweek. Is this even achievable?

(Note: We use km rather than miles in the Philippines)<<<<
like any goal you set, if you start with the right mindset, there's no way you wouldn't achieve it. I see you rolling your eyes now for this cliché but I'll say it anyway—A right mindset comes from the inside out and not the other way around. Yup, it's about the favorite three-letter-word of Simon Sinek, Tony Robbins, Brian Tracy or even Steve Jobs and them most influential motivational speakers you've heard—it's the WHY. Why did you set that goal in the first place? If you have a concrete answer to this, you’re now done with the first step.

<<<<
ated this fitness goal basically for both health and physical improvement. It's important for me to maintain a firm body now that my metabolism starts to slow down cos yup, I'm getting older 😅 My sugar level elevates from time to time as well so I need to burn them to death.

Second, slice your goal into small pieces so the whole pie you have to consume won't look like a tough job.

I divided the 500km to 12 months and that gives me 41.66—i rounded it off to 40km, then 10km per week. Now the goal looks more achievable from this perspective, doesn't it?

(I did 11.4km for this week, exceeding my target of #10kmperweek) Third, reward yourself. No more illuminating on this one because apart from your answer to the why you set this goal, you should not be hard on yourself too. I’d treat myself a dessert every month once the #40kmpermonth is accomplished.

(My boyfriend designed this cute voucher so I have something to look forward to every month.) Once I’m done with the #500km2018challenge, I’ll buy myself a ticket to Seoul because I really want to go back there. I usually get to travel abroad due to company’s incentive but this time it’s going to be my Solo Trip to Seoul all expense paid by me 💁🏼‍♀️ Yay!

Lastly, write your goals down and if you can, post it in your wall. (This is apparently not new to you but I’m talking about myself anyway so 🤷🏻‍♀️) This visual reminder will keep you on track. Been doing this for quite some time now and i reckon it has been effective 👌🏻

(Please don’t mind the scratches and the other goals above. But notice that i prefer the verb to be in present tense just to highlight that I’m ACTUALLY “doing it”, not “will do it” not “have done it” yet.)
Now that I’ve
s particular goal for the year, there will be no excuses smooches. It’s going to be embarrassing if I didn’t hit it so this is absolutely non-negotiable. Talking about your goals will give you more confidence and it gives you the energy to attract the universe to help you reach it. Talk about it in the most modest way possible.

PS. Remember, when you publicize your goal, do it for yourself and not to please others. If by chance you didn’t hit it it’s okay—you can revise and reset it anytime you want. 😉

Fresh eyes (Part 1)

This is the most nerve-racking moment in her life. By the time she woke up, she felt like she slept in a pond of sweat. She hurriedly wiped it with her bare hands as soon as she saw a seemed-like-a-slow-mo drop of it from her chin down to her lap. She suddenly panicked so she rapidly got up from her tangled bed, threw away her blanket and ran towards the mirror. She was startled to see her reflection but at the same time she felt some sense of relief. She looked normal, no bruises, no wounds, no blood.

“It was just a dream, Amma, ok? It will never come to life.” She said to herself whilst zooming herself in and out, looking for some sort of physical damages, examining her face and her body in the mirror. She tried to lift herself up with those words of affirmation but she’s utterly aware of a familiar scary possibility.

It all started when she was 16. Amma lost her parents due to the famous 2011 suicide plane bombing. She has a 10 year old sister, at that time, named Emma, who just turned 17 last December. It’s been exactly seven years since they passed away but the effect of this tragic event is still fresh in her memory. That was also the time she realized her gift that she sometimes refer to as a curse—because Amma can’t help but to blame herself, she thought she could have used her gift to warn her parents about what she has seen in her dreams. She could have went there and informed everyone she knew what’s going to happen, heedless of  whether they believe her or not—she could have saved her parents and 100 more innocent lives. But she didn’t. For she knows it’s absurd to believe that she could see the future through her dreams.

The premonitons that show up when she’s asleep are not usually bad dreams per se. Oft times it’s good and funny and sexy but last night’s dream was intensely terrifying. In this dream, Amma saw herself drunk driving, on her way home, with an unknown guy in the passenger seat who was laughing crazily, a bottle of Nils Oscar beer in his right hand, his left on her hips and as he was about to kiss her, she saw a silhouette of a man who’s about to cross the street, so she quickly turned the steering wheel to her right, unable to anticipate the ten-wheeler truck coming in the same lane she’s in. The unknown guy shouted at her, Watch out!, but Amma recklessly lost control and then BAAAM!

To be continued…

Start the year right

Goals, i have relied on you my entire life for the most part. You are the guide God has taught me to create, like a map of several destinations, the pathway to utter happiness. I have accomplished a lot of you last year and I am confident that this year is going to be a year of more positive changes and an enormous sums of achievements. I am not, however, a follower of new year’s resolutions because it doesn’t have any strong impact on me. But specific goals exhilarate me to enjoy the process of living and allow me to look forward to brighter things ahead.

Creating this blog has always been one of my goals since the time i found love in writing. But I wasn’t confident enough to publish my works for the past years that I’ve always second-guessed the idea of it thus I ended up procrastinating and absolutely not making it happen. But today feels so much different. I woke up this morning with a tagline that keeps flashing in my head—START THE YEAR RIGHT. It really appeared in bold letters as if it was emphasizing its importance, that it has to be seriously acknowledged. And so I did not ignore it this time—my heart has its way of communicating with me through my peculiar sets of imaginations and a universal language that needs a little of decoding to understand. Starting the year right is an intense message to persuade you to do something you love that you keep on setting aside because of your excuses. It could also mean that you should start this year with a new powerful habit as a replacement from the ugly old one. I’d like to believe that starting this blog is a perfect way to help me practice the passion I have for writing and help me execute my goal in provoking ideas all over the world.

I honestly think that through this, I’d be able to make a difference like who knows? It may sound absurd but if I get to help people know how to set goals properly and how to achieve them, how to have the right mindset and how to have the perfect attitude towards life, that’s already making a difference, isn’t it? Just like what Steve Jobs has said: “…because the people who are crazy enough to think they can change the world… are the ones who do.”To think differently—this is what this blog aims for you to do. To be brave enough to take the road that are less traveled. To help you unlock your true self  without seeking the approval of others. The ultimate goal is to create a message that could inspire readers to live life at its fullest. To make you realize the true beauty of life by changing the way you look at it, one step at a time.

I am merely thrilled to share with you every chapter of my 2018 stories that will hopefully provoke some meaningful ideas within you. I am also excited to hit more goals, to meet more people, to see more places and to touch more lives this year.

A colorful and bountiful 2018—I am looking forward to you.
